Android and iOS accounted for in the first quarter of the global smart phone shipments 82%

IDC, a market research company, today released the latest report, the first quarter of the global smart phone shipments in the proportion of more than eight tenths of smart phones based on Android and iOS operating system.

The report shows that the first quarter of the global smart phone shipments of 152.3 million Android phones proportion of 59.0%, the iOS proportion of 23.0%. This compares with the first quarter of 2011, the volume proportion of these two operating system-based smart phones, and 54.4%. The report notes that the rise in market share means that Android and iOS has been successfully pull away the distance between itself and the previous market leader Symbian and BlackBerry, as well as with Linux and Windows Phone 7/Windows Mobile.
